Wirral K9 Academy was founded in 2018 by Chris (Head Trainer) and has helped
thousands of dog owners train and enjoy their dogs. All dog training classes and 1:1 sessions are designed
to be simple to follow and build trust and clear communication between dog and owner.
Based in
Heswall on the Wirral peninsula, the training ground has the largest and most varied outdoor agility course
on the Wirral. Dogs are introduced to different obstacles throughout the course, helping with
environmentals, confidence and application to real-life.
Through the success of word of mouth from
satisfied clients, Chris has grown Wirral K9 Academy into the go-to place for puppy and adult dog owners to
train their dogs.
Chris' interest in dogs began at an early age, training his first dog when he was 10 and
competing in agility competitions. This led him to have a successful career as a sniffer dog handler,
working alongside HMRC, Boarder Force, Trading Standards and the police.
Scent work is a service
offered at Wirral K9, drawing on Chris' sniffer dog handler qualifications in finding pyrotechnics, tobacco,
drugs, cash and explosives.
Wirral K9 began in 2018, building a group of happy clients, he moved to
the current training ground in Heswall and has created a thriving dog training academy.
His own dogs
are a testament to his training. Lex has won challenging AVD competitions with Chris at his side: an
unbreakable bond; there is little Chris and Lex do apart (he is the logo for Wirral K9). Lex regularly joins
training classes, as a demo dog and also helps as a neutral test for reactive dogs in 1:1
sessions.
Chris works hard to build confidence for the dog but also the handler. His practical
approach to solving even the most challenging of cases is celebrated in almost every
review.

Academy.
We've just finished the puppy class and we can't
recommend Wirral K9 enough.
In each class we learned something new and Gigi has developed so much in
walking on the lead, knowing commands and recall.
